Aptly named, Waterhead Studio is set right
on the shore of, and with superb views
across Lake Windermere. Apart from the small
lake frontage, guests also benefit from a

a jetty. On the southern outskirts of
Ambleside, (see photo on right) just ¼ mile
from Waterhead, where you can take cruises
down the lake. The visitor centre at
Brockhole, with its 30-acres of
award-winning gardens and grounds, is a
great place to start any trip to this
beautiful area. Home to a series of trails,
walks, events and activities, it also has an
information centre where you can find out
all about the local attractions and there
are, indeed, many to see here. Close by are
Hawkshead and beautiful Grasmere. Both
villages are inextricably linked to the
great romantic poet William Wordsworth.
Historians and Wordsworth fans alike will
find a visit to either Dove Cottage or Rydal
Mount an interesting diversion. Wordsworth
is not the only literary connection here
however, both John Ruskin and Beatrix Potter
also lived nearby, Ruskin at Brantwood on
the shores of Coniston Water, and Beatrix
Potter at Hill Top (NT) at Far Sawrey. There
are many ways to explore this often
frequented area and each visitor chooses his
own path, by foot, mountain bike, car, boat

Stays for 2, 3, and 4 nights are regarded as
short stays. Stays of up to one month may be
available for some cottages please

Most weekly bookings run from Saturday
to Saturday, unless the property indicates
otherwise. Where accepted, 2 night
breaks start on a Friday or Saturday, 3 night
breaks on a Friday and 4 night midweek breaks
start on a Monday.
Bookings for
short stays that fall during a public holiday
may only be made within 28 days of the public
holiday. Bookings for 7 or 14 days where the
stay dates include a public holiday may be made
at any time.
